Albert Hammond Jr. - Yours to Keep

Origins: Los Angeles, Unided States of America
They play since: 2006
Other discs: ¿Como te Llama? (2008)

Disc Review:
Albert was the second guitar from The Strokes, an american band with great impact in music in the middle 2000's. He colaborated with many of the lyrics of their songs.

This is his first solist disc, a product of the work on many of the sketches of songs he had and couldn't achieve to produce with The Strokes. The lyrics are most about life and love, but from an urban point of view, following the style of his last band. The music is based on loud guitars, catchy riffs, and short solos.

The music base it's quite simple, but he made a lot of work over that base, adding more sounds to finally achieve a great sound to go with the processed voice he chooses to show.
To summit, its a great disk to listen to a sunday afternoon when you have nothing to do and want to relax on your couch.

El Mató a un Policía Motorizado - Día de los Muertos

Origins: La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina
They play since: 2003
Other discs: El Mató a un Policía Motorizado (2004), Navidad de Reserva (2005), Un Millón de Euros (2006)

Disc Review:
This is a band which I personally appreciate more than the rest of the groups, because I feel a sort of emphaty with their music, which is really basic and, like it's genre demmands: noisy.

This is the final disk of a trilogy based on the life cycle; the birth (Navidad de Reserva), the life (Un Millón de Euros) and finally, the death, which is the main theme of this EP. Its lyrics talk about the end of the days, the apocalypse and natural disasters, creating some kind of psychedelia mixed with a thetric desolation atmosphere. The song I liked the most was "El Día del Huracán" which, like it names says, talks about an upcomming hurricane that's going to destroy everything..

The music is composed by basic chord progressions with a strong and raw distrotion, and electric riffs, and the voice varies from melancholic to angry melodies. The whole band sounds like one and that's what made me post this here.
